Women’s History month is a reminder that it is important to support, learn, and empower the women around you!
Empowering other women can come from just a simple act of kindness, such as a compliment or a smile and a nod in another Queen’s direction! If you want some dope ideas of how you can uplift the women in your life, or even just a random woman you see at the grocery store, here’s 7 Ways for you to empower the women around you!
1. Create a safe space- woman of all types like to feel welcomed when they make the choice to talk about their personal experiences, or even when meeting new people for the first time! If you have the passion to start a new organization or club, or even simply while at work or for women who enter your home, create a safe space for women and watch how much you can inspire those around you!
2. Build self-esteem and confidence- When you walk into any public setting you are bound to see beautiful women and there’s no harm in complimenting them on their beauty! Even with family members/friends who are women, it’s important for them to hear a simple compliment or “I am proud of you” from some one they love. It can go a very long way!
3. Be a role model: work on being the change you wish to see in the world by empowering yourself in your own life! Be strong and confident in the choices you make and see yourself as a powerful individual capable of doing anything you set your mind to. In return you will set an example to the women around you that they can do the same. Be a mentor to a younger woman looking to enter the same industry you work in!
4. Speak up- If you witness a woman being discriminated against, or spoken about badly, say something! This doesn’t mean you have to be aggressive, but simply making it known that you disagree with what’s being said or done can have a powerful impact on people around you. This shows younger, less confident women that what they have to say matters, and will give them the strength to stand up for themselves!
