10 Ways to Take Care in the Winter

With this cold weather upon us our bodies will definitely be taking a beating. Now, more than ever, is the time to add a little TLC day to your routine once a week. For me, it's when I feel like it and other times it’s when I need to feel rooted. It doesn’t matter the reason, just remember to do you and take care!

  1. Bathe. This should go without saying, but light some candles or pour some oils in your diffuser, turn on a relaxing playlist, and hop in the tub or shower to relax.

2. Masks!

Face masks. Hair masks. Body masks. Hand masks. No masks off today! This is the day to do your full skin routine. Wash, shave (or don't shave. That's your prerogative), exfoliate, tone, moisturize, seal. Get your facial done professionally. Do whatever! (Here are my favorite cheap masks by Shea Moisture. Face mask. Hair mask.)

3. Have a Hair day!

Girl we already know you're gonna need at least 2 hours. Gon 'head and start early (or better yet, do your deep conditioning/prepoo the night before). Lord give us strength!

4. Do your Nails!

It's nothing like having your fingers and toes done to make you feel well kept. When your nails and hair are done, you already know that you don't have to be concerned with that part of life for the week. It takes the longest, so why not get it out the way and feel good about it, too?

5. Eat!

Order your favorite cheat meal. Try to give yourself a day or meal a week. This keeps you on track for your fitness goals by giving yourself a treat to look forward to. You can also use this day to meal prep, but that's more work than treating so we'll do this on Saturdays.

6. Redecorate.

Or you can just rearrange your furniture. Sometimes, a gal just needs a change of scenery. After all, you'll likely be spending more time in this place due to the cold temps outside.

7. Make sure you’re not Buried Alive!

Clean your space. Trust me. A cluttered home is a cluttered mind. Been there. Reduce stress by keeping clutter and dust/dishes to a minimum.

8. Movie night!

Invite friends over for a binge sesh. Call bae and cuddle up while watching your favorite movie. This is the best way to feel relaxed and ready to start the new week.

9. Excercise.

If you've never gone for a run or to the gym alone, DO IT. It helps clear your head and reduce stress. And if you're into the health and aesthetic benefits of working out, it's good for you and you'll be snatched by the time summer comes around.

10. Show some Crew Love

Having a good laugh is always a good idea when trying to reduce stress. Call a friend! If you need to vent, ask your friend if they have the capacity/headspace to engage in an emotionally intensive convo. You don't want to put them in an uncomfortable position because everyone is going through something.

You don't have to break the bank to enjoy things! You just have to be creative (and sometimes find the cheaper route lol). I'm right there with you, but having these TLC days to look forward to makes me feel a lot better.

xoxo
