To all my ladies who strive for perfection:
Your appearance, credit score, what people think of you does not define you. You might not have hit every goal you set for yourself in January. You might not have the flattest stomach in time for bikini szn. Or, you could be struggling to fill it out. Your friends might be in a place in their lives that seem far advanced from you. You might still live at home. You might not have been in a serious relationship yet. You might be in crazy debt from your student loans. You might just now be getting your degree while your peers are getting married and starting families. You might still battle with shyness and standing up for yourself. You might not even know who you are just yet. You might struggle with mental illness. You might deal with sick parents. You might be afraid to leave your comfort zone. You might not have direction. You might have experienced trauma/or abandonment. You might be in therapy. You might still think going to therapy makes you weak. You might think crying makes you weak. You might think being quiet is perceived as weakness. You might have lost friends. You might have dropped friends. You might be stuck. You might be in pain. But you are still here. You are fighting. You are strong. You are resilient. You are creative. You are smart. You are resourceful. You are a force. You can be anything. You can be everything. There is always room for improvement. You can say ‘yes’, change your mind, and say ‘no’. You can choose to stay single with no kids. You can choose who you’d like to stay in your life and who you would feel lighter without. You don’t have to wait until Monday to start a new challenge. You don’t have to take on more than you can mentally handle. You don’t have to do it all, even though you are totally capable of doing so. You don’t have to accept less than you deserve just because “that’s just the way it’s always been.” You can have a smoothie with your burger because...balance. You can write in prose or short distinct thoughts. You can curate the life you want. Most importantly, “You can be both a masterpiece and a work in progress at the same time.” Don’t feel obligated to be who someone wants you to be, even you. Just be. Take your time. Fall in love with you. Don’t worry, you’re doing just fine.
