Ghetto black girls. You know, those shop at the beauty supply store for everything type girls. Long ass nails in bright ass colors with rings on every finger. 27 piece, Platinum blond wig or maybe long box braids types.
Tight outfits that accentuate her extra curves, fishnet, show some skin, ratchet type girls. Fake gold plated hoops from the beauty supply store. You know the same ones we see and call ratchet or ghetto, Depending on what side of town she from and how loud she is.
The same one’s fashion brands like LV and Gucci imitate with better fabric and a brand, up the price, and call it glam. The same girls that the Kim Ks and Miley’s of the world copy and they celebrate but when you see the same thing cheaper on the black girls they call it ghetto and decide to hate them. Are they really ghetto or just carefree black girls in it's truest sense. You know, don’t really care about what society thinks, free to express themselves in all forms, so unapologetically true its felt. Thats why it makes them so uncomfortable, they can't see this depth. To those ratchet Black girls: Thanks for defining Culture and setting trends, with your black, ghetto, beautiful self.
"Ghetto is nothing but creativity that hasn't been stolen yet"
It is a word used with so much derogatory connotation sometimes. Returning home from college to your "ghetto" urban neighborhoods. Ghetto acting women in the grocery store's and in the subway stations. Black girls are ghetto with any color hair that isn't brown or black. There is no room for creativity or freedom of expression with colors or style of dress. Black children can not act out at stores as other children do because they are then ghetto too. And no credit is given when when bantu knot outs are now fashionable "mini buns" and they ask for "coffin shaped" nails with midi rings instead of stiletto nails with the gold rings that we did first. And with all that being said, stay true to yourself.
We don't have to adhere to standards of beauty, feminism, and womanhood that society tries to force on us. We are creative beings. Using the word in a negative connotation is a way to suppress artistry and differences. Ghetto is what it means to be truly carefree. So define the word, instead of letting it define we. Ghetto is the inspiration that the rest of society needs. Let's become more aware of how we use the word.
